If a magazine cover can be called its face
and its readers can be called its heart,
the editorial staff is, certainly, its brain.
The staff that produces every issue of “RussianTown” represents a wide variety of professions.
A magazine doesn’t begin with an article
about a vivid event. It begins with a concept.
The concept of “RussianTown” is that every aspect of work in it has
a significant meaning. There are no minor
details in this matter.
We give priority to creating a high quality
product, and that includes every aspect of
our magazine – from its artistic design and
layout, to its intellectual content, to its
distribution, to its mutually beneficial
connection with our readers, to the productiveness
of our business contacts.
All these diverse aspects of our magazine
directly depend on the people who work with
us.
The authors whose articles we offer to our
readers have been successfully cooperating
with other prestigious editions for a long
time. We consider it an honor if a “big name”
journalist or writer trusts us; it means
that the work presented by “RussianTown” magazine matches world standards.
We are very grateful to our authors for their
trust and appreciation.
In our turn, we want to emphasize that we
have always tried to engage the best of the
best in the work of “RussianTown” magazine. We are sure that our readers
are highly intellectual people. Therefore,
we have no right to disappoint their expectations
with low quality materials.
Our authors live in different parts of the
U.S. and the world.
What does that
indicate?
It indicates
that the Russian-speaking community
of the whole
world is doing its best to preserve
the Russian
culture for themselves and their
former countrymen.
Thus, a cultural-informational
exchange is
taking place: We receive works
of those living
in Europe and Russia. Living
outside the
culture, we are also living inside
it, even though
it sounds paradoxical.
The authors
living in the U.S. also give
us valuable
material, valuable for several
reasons.
First, they are familiar with the every-day
life of the Russian-speaking population of
America. In addition, they are familiar with
many Russian businesses. Finally, they know
what excites the Russian-speaking community.
Therefore, their material always “hits the
target”, because it is interesting, it is
necessary for our readers, and it meets all
their expectations in terms of being current
and timely.
The editorial staff of “RussianTown” magazine is a team consisting of professionals;
they are not only journalists and writers,
but also managers, advertising agents, and
designers. Our fine product is a result of
our teamwork and cooperation
The utmost professionalism of our staff is
our pride. The selection of our staff has
always been an extremely serious and important
matter.
Applicants’ resumes are thoroughly reviewed;
references from their previous employers
are carefully checked.
The portfolio
of every designer is evaluated
from the point
of view of the goal set by
the customer
and the perspective of the targeted
audience. And,
of course, we analyze the
results of
each job and find out how every
issued booklet,
flyer, sticker or announcement
affected customer
opinion about a product
or service.
Copywriters, as one of the most important
components of every editorial staff, have
to meet even stricter requirements. As a
result, “RussianTown” has on staff creative people who are able
to generate ideas as soon as a customer shows
up in the office.
The managers
of the magazine perform their
jobs so well
that many of our clients have
expressed regrets
that such excellent workers
are not available
to be employed by them.
It’s a very valuable compliment that our
managers often receive employment offers
from corporations significantly larger than
“RussianTown” magazine. It indicates that the administrative
side of our magazine meets the high standards
of the business and creative worlds.
Our advertising
agents are well-informed
people, each
of whom has a wide variety of
connections
necessary for successful work,
such as at
printing houses, TV stations,
and different
Russian businesses in the American
Southeast.
Thus, we can rest assured that
our advertising
agents are able to satisfy
any advertiser,
even the most demanding one.
We believe
harmony is very important for
a magazine,
because it combines two factors
that seem to
be incompatible – commercial
and creative
work.
If we have been able to succeed, it is to
the credit of our chief editor, who managed
to create a team where all members complement
each other.
